The Role:
- 5+ years of experience as an Apache Hive Developer or in a similar role.
- Proven experience in Apache Hive development and optimization for big data processing.
- Solid understanding of data modelling concepts and ETL processes.
- Proficient in HiveQL and query optimization techniques.
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Apache Hive queries and scripts for big data processing.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to understand data requirements and optimise data processing workflows.
- Design and implement efficient data models for Hive tables and optimise query performance.
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks in Hive queries and data processing workflows.
- Develop and maintain ETL processes using Apache Hive for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
- Ensure the reliability and efficiency of data pipelines from various sources.
- Ensure code quality through code reviews, unit testing, and adherence to coding standards.
- Stay current with Apache Hive advancements and industry trends, incorporating new features into development practices.
