The Role:

We are looking for a Senior AWS SQS Engineer skilled in AWS for one of our clients. You are a perfect candidate if you are growth-oriented, you love what you do, and you enjoy working on new ideas to develop exciting products.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience with AWS Simple Queue Service (SQS) and other AWS services, such as Lambda, EC2, and S3.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or Node.js for developing AWS SQS clients and applications.
  • Strong understanding of messaging patterns and distributed systems.
  • Experience with message serialisation formats like JSON, XML, or Protocol Buffers.
  • Familiarity with message brokers and queuing systems other than AWS SQS (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes is a bonus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain AWS SQS queues and related infrastructure, ensuring scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability.
  • Integrate AWS SQS with other AWS services and third-party systems to facilitate seamless data exchange.
  • Develop message processing systems to handle incoming and outgoing messages efficiently, considering factors like message retries and error handling.
  • Continuously monitor and optimise AWS SQS configurations and resource utilisation for optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement security best practices for data protection, access control, and encryption within the SQS infrastructure.
  • Set up comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions to proactively identify and address issues within the SQS environment.
