During my college days studying Geophysics, I made an important discovery. My enthusiasm for scientific programming and data analysis eclipsed everything else, steering me away from a traditional academic path and directly into the realms of data analysis in the corporate world. My first step into professional growth was underpinned by a science scholarship, whereas as a junior undergraduate researcher, the fusion of technology and its application to solve real-world problems lit a fire within me—a passion for development that had been quietly nurturing since my childhood.
With a canvas as broad as the tech landscape, I ventured into the realms of Business Intelligence, Data Visualization, Data Analytics, and Data Engineering. My expertise, spanning the breadth of Data Ops, touched upon various sectors, enriching my journey as a tech writer, educator, and even a TV show contributor. Yet, one of the greatest challenges I faced was the art of demystifying complex data concepts for non-technical audiences, a skill that I not only mastered over time with the help of mentors but also grew to cherish.
The year 2023 marked a pivotal chapter in my career with Proxify, opening doors to remote work and new frontiers in tech development. My transition from localized consulting to a spectrum of projects with international exposure was seamless, thanks to Proxify. The flexibility of remote work, coupled with the pursuit of professional and personal growth, especially as a mother, has been nothing short of revolutionary.
Today, I stand at the intersection of innovation and application, engaged as a Data Engineer and a Business Intelligence Engineer. Collaborating with clients across the US, from a biotech startup on the West Coast to a Medical Supplies Management Platform on the East Coast, my work is a testament to Proxify's global network. At the biotech startup, my role is to pioneer the use of bioinformatics and machine learning in unraveling the mysteries of genomics and metagenomics—a mission that not only fuels biomedical advancements but also harbors the potential to revolutionize our understanding of bioactive compounds. At the Medical Supplies Management Platform, I'm leading the development of a Power BI analytics feature. This work involves using SQL and C# programming, along with creating visual data presentations. I also make sure to protect data privacy and follow confidentiality rules. Although this project is complex, it matches my passion for turning data into useful insights. It highlights the importance of technology progress and responsible data handling.
