I am from Armenia, a resilient country enduring a series of challenges in recent years, including four wars within the last seven years. Despite these hardships, Armenia continues to evolve and grow. My roots trace back to a village called Amasia, nestled in the picturesque Shirak Province. This quaint village is known for its stunning natural beauty and the harsh embrace of winter. Our family home, meticulously constructed by my father, stood proudly beneath the towering mountain that graced our village. In my formative years, my brother and I made it a daily ritual to ascend that very mountain, seeking adventure and the thrill of reaching its summit. Winters were especially enchanting, as we would don our skis alongside our father and traverse the entire expanse of the mountain. Fond memories about my country of origin and those days linger in my heart.
During my final years of school, my passion gravitated towards the realms of math and physics. This fervor led me to the doors of Yerevan State University, where I eagerly embarked on a journey within the Faculty of Physics, hoping to unearth my true calling as a physicist. Upon the culmination of my studies and the attainment of a bachelor's degree, a lingering sense of dissatisfaction began to cloud my thoughts. It became increasingly evident that I had not truly discovered my identity or fulfilled my potential within the realm of physics. As it turned out, my intuition was spot on.
Uncertain about my future path, I turned to my father for guidance. He recommended a visit to the Gyumri Information Technologies Center (GITC) as a means to explore the possibility of becoming a programmer. Taking his advice to heart, I embarked on this exploratory journey. Successfully passing the entrance exams, I found myself enrolled in the Web Development department, marking the beginning of a transformative chapter in my life. The courses at GITC held me in rapt fascination, igniting a relentless passion that drove me to immerse myself in the subject for more than twelve hours each day. These two years at GITC were undoubtedly arduous and demanding, but my motivation remained strong as I pursued my newfound calling.
During those two years, I also observed a significant boost in my self-confidence. Graduation was drawing near, and I found myself actively applying for positions and attending interviews at various companies, all while diligently working on my diploma project. Securing that initial job offer proved to be a formidable challenge, but eventually, I received a compelling offer from a renowned company named Macadamian Armenia, which was held in high regard during its prime. I eagerly accepted the offer, and my journey into the world of professional work began immediately after my diploma defense at GITC. The most formidable challenge in my early career was maintaining a work-life balance, a task that often proved elusive.
In December 2022, I became part of the Proxify team, and within just two weeks, I received a job offer following a remarkably smooth and well-organized interview process. Now, I find myself fully engaged in an enterprise company based in Switzerland, immersed in fascinating and innovative solutions while tackling challenging projects. My initial venture involved developing a desktop application for educational institutions, where I assumed the role of the sole developer. This endeavor led to the creation of a digital classroom app, equipped with modern tools like OBS and Zoom APIs, aimed at assisting teachers in structuring their lessons. The application has recently been launched and is now in use across various schools in the United States and Singapore. What I particularly appreciate about the projects here is the opportunity to continually acquire new technologies as needed, with ample time allocated for learning during the process. This innovative tool greatly assists educators in orchestrating seamless learning experiences, blending various resources to keep students engaged and actively participating throughout their lessons. And the result for the students is a more enjoyable and motivating learning environment.
At Proxify, there is a strong emphasis on maintaining clear and consistent communication channels between clients and developers, ensuring that any unforeseen challenges that may arise during the project are promptly addressed. Prior to my tenure at Proxify, I had accumulated substantial experience in remote work. Over a span of three years, I contributed to The Washington Post, followed by four years at Rebelmouse, and so on. In 2015, I took a significant leap by leaving the confines of a traditional office and transitioning into remote work, a practice that was less mainstream at the time. Initially, I predominantly worked from the comfort of my home. However, after a couple of years, I began to crave the company of brilliant minds and the camaraderie of working alongside other individuals, prompting my shift to co-working spaces.
